This book aims to provide a comparative study of two Danish translations of Camilo José Cela’s Spanish novel La familia de Pascual Duarte from 1942. The author examines the relationship between the author and the text and analyses the solutions used in the transfer of the text form the source language to the target language. Moreover, the author presents an investigation of the relationship between readers and the text by looking into the function of the text in the target culture, as well as the response to the text by four authentic readers, which serves as empirical evidence. The book consists of five chapters, embarking on issues such as some theoretical perspectives on literary translation, the Spanish reception of the novel, the analysis of the two translations and other subjects.
