Abstract

This study has been conceived as part of a larger research project designed to investigate quality, creativity and strategies in simultaneous interpreting based on the analysis of data obtained from questionnaires. The survey was designed to cover professional interpreters in the Czech Republic (members of the Association of Conference Interpreters and the Association of Translators and Interpreters), interpreting agencies, conference organizers (PCO) and participants in international conferences where simultaneous interpreting was provided. All conference interpreters are aware of the fact that ‘quality’ marks the whole process of interpreting. But what is quality? What is good quality interpreting? What does quality of interpreting mean? What factors affect quality of interpreting? What are the strategies the interpreter chooses from and how creative is s/he?
