How can every element of meaning and implication be conveyed when the structures of source and target languages do not overlap? How can we equip students who have not yet acquired an intuitive sense of both languages ? This article proposes an exercise applying an enunciative description and a pragmatic approach to the translation into French of an English dialogue containing numerous examples of the progressive form.
