Introducing students to the translation of specialized economic texts might well be achieved through press articles. This paper is an attempt to study the viability and possible advantages of using these texts at an introductory stage in translation classes. The authors analyse specific problems, and explain some of the advantages of using these texts. In a final instance, they illustrate these points with some practical examples.
