One of the most emblematic translators of Chinese literature was Marià Manent (1898-1988). His last translation (1986) was that of Vell país natal, a book of poems by Wang Wei, which he translated into Catalan in collaboration with Dolors Folch, currently lecturing in Chinese History at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Besides Manent and Folch’s joint effort, this interview also highlights Dolors Folch’s personal and professional development as well as the difficulties encountered when translating Chinese poetry, and also the current situation regarding the translation of Chinese texts into Catalan.
