Abstract

This special issue of TTR on the translation of sociolects, edited by Annick Chapdelaine and Gillian Lane-Mercier, highlights subjects such as transparency and the retranslation of sociolects in Faulkner’s The Hamlet, the importance of humour in translation, the translation of pidgin and Creole in African literature, translation problems in vernacular languages, fidelity and the gendered translation, etc.
