Abstract

This paper deals with the teaching of Arabic translation and interpreting not in an Arab environment but in a multicultural and multilingual society. It looks at the major differences in the aim of teaching the advanced linguistic skills of translation and interpreting. It also identifies the challenges and problems facing translation pedagogy which deals with a new generation of Australian-born Arabs.
