Mayoral argues that it is easier to interpret the connotations of a literary text if the background is known beforehand. In order to prove this, he puts forward the example of Regent's Park, which acts as background of a short story by Doris Lessing. Two translators, a Spaniard and a Briton, are asked to translate problematic passages, first with no help except the text itself, and then providing them with photographs of the park.
