Abstract

The author estranges herself from her own language in contact with the original one, which entails a sort of ‘mourning’; then, there is a ‘rebirth’ in the space of the Other. The author compares the texts by Derrida and Cixous (both in Veils) she translated, stating that they both use a ‘veil effect’, which must be preserved in translation. Referring also to the etymological origin a ‘veil’; Negrón concludes that translation means to displace the translator’s language, to situate in an ‘unstable’ place between languages, in order to keep the sense eternally in motion and not to settle it in a solid position.
