Abstract

The translator is always part of contemporary society, culture and ideologies, both in the source language and target language speaking societies. He/she is also part of the history and language competence of both societies, and, if he/she wants or not, exposed to the ideologies and opinions prevailing. This has a direct or indirect effect on his/her work, selection of equivalent words and concepts used in the translation. For a researcher, this aspect is a rich source to be studied.
