Abstract

The aim of this paper is two-fold: first, the author attempts to sketch out an overall approach to translation from a linguistic perspective; and second, the author applies this approach to the definition and characterization of a number of degrees and types of correspondence. In developing his overall approach, the author has drawn particularly, although not exclusively, on the ideas put forward by W. Haas.
