This paper is concerned with translation from German into Dutch and the difficulties and regularities in it in the area of suffixed adjectives. Translation of scientific texts from German into Dutch does not mean literal or linear translation, but one sometimes gets the impression that it relatively closely approaches that procedure because of the typological, and above all the genetic, closeness of the languages in question. This impression may also be the result of the fact that the paper aims to analyze translation at the lexical level (suffixed adjectives in German and their equivalents in Dutch), and not at the level of text.
