Abstract
This paper addresses some issues of bilingual lexicography; in particular, how lexical knowledge is best represented in a dictionary for the purpose of translation. The author outlines the structure of a dictionary that is organized along the same principles as a native speaker’s mental lexicon. Such a dictionary, which can be searched conceptually, has the shape of a relational semantic network. Examples are given that indicate how this dictionary may come closer to providing good source-target word matches.
