Abstract
With the Internet becoming widely available worldwide, an inordinate number of websites dealing with all sorts of interests and issues are spreading in an info-technological epidemic that is sweeping the entire planet. Virtual "click and barter", live interactive fora, real and unreal societies, organizations, and suchlike, are sprouting like mushroom. The Internet, like any new invention, has become subject to abuse, forcing societies and professional communities to lay down rules and protocols to ensure proper use of this valuable resource. Translation on the Internet is no exception. This article highlights some of the issues concerning the professionalization of Arabic translators and the need for a professional code of ethics for translators using the Internet and related technologies.
