Abstract
Translation of technical texts is a specialized profession. Therefore, persons who have been trained as translators and who are qualified (e.g. those who have a degree in translation and interpreting) or persons who are quite fluent in speaking and using foreign languages (e.g. secretaries) will generally experience a lot of problems when translating technical texts. On the other hand, good technical translations can be written by persons having experience in the technical field, but they will generally have other tasks on their hands, and will not have time for translating texts. The author puts that good technical translations will be written by persons who are specially trained to do this, and that neither a degree in translating and interpreting nor a degree in (any field of) science will be enough.
