Abstract
This edited volume collects essays from a small scale seminar organized on the occasion of Bram Verhoeff’s retirement from the chair of English literature at the University of Utrecht. The articles of the present volume are the written versions of speeches at the congress. These articles focus on English and American literature at Dutch universities, on Dutch in the United States, on kinds of translations, on Dutch interpreters, on some early translations of Paradise Lost, on translation reflections, translation theory, on the translation of poetry, etc.
