In this paper, the author surveys current development in the provision of corpus data for use in the research and practice of translation. While conceding that much research and development for indigenous European languages is needed, he argues that non-indigenous minority languages in Europe are both an important source of domestic translation tasks and are poorly served with corpora/language processing tools.
