Abstract

Translatology has made an enormous progress since the end of the Second World War. That process has been characterised by a rapid cycle of renewals. But still, the discipline is in search. This cycle is not only positive, it can also contain a danger: it can lead to a double hiatus: firstly between translation practice and theory, and secondly between translators and translatologists. That is why a new meta discourse is developing besides the usual theoretical translation discourse. The present article is one of those discourses on the metatranslation.
