Abstract

In terminology, theory is based on research in scientific and technical domains. The principles used within these domains aren’t necessarily applicable to all domains. In reality, theories based on research in scientific or technical domains are too strict and often inapplicable to terminology work in other sectors, especially in the domain of human sciences. This doesn’t prevent terminologists in these domains to pursue their research and to produce high quality lexicons. Nevertheless, the principles on which the theory of terminology is based, need to be re-evaluated.
