The entries of systems for automatic translation have to contain units which are more elaborated than traditional lexical entries. After a brief description of lexical entries, the authors of the article explain the elaboration of lexical entries in systems for automatic translation; they explain the functions and functioning of lexical entries, so as certain characteristic features and methods for grammatical analysis and the transfer of applied structures. Finally, the importance of the notion “concept” in the transfer of grammatical structures is highlighted. The authors finish by reflecting on the place of terminologists and lexicographical work in the world of automatic translation.
