This article is about the terminology of African languages. The author asks himself why people work in the field of terminology in black Africa. He further exposes the fundamentals of terminology (individual, cultural, economic), the objectives (knowledge of languages, enrichment, language use, international cooperation), and principles of terminology (submission to norms, conformity, adequacy, multidisciplinarity of research).
