Abstract

The study object of this article are the translations of drama and theatre that already exist in the target culture. The aim is to observe, describe, explain and predict the regularities and norms that influence the behavior of a translator and the function of translated products in the target culture. First the author explores a number of definitions to illustrate how translations and adaptations of film and theatre products are presented in a specific social-historic context. Secondly he discusses translation and adaptation in the drama and finally he gives an account of censorship in this particular field.
