Abstract

There are few other kinds of scholarly projects whose succesful undertaking is do dependent upon consulting appropriate bibliographic sources as is a translation project. The problems of bibliographic nature encountered by translators frequently have seemed to be like those of checkmate. Many translators embark on ambitious projects only to discover that the works chosen by them have already been translated. To prevent such a frustrating situation from occuring, bibliographic control of translations is of the utmost importance. This article provides a checklist of major sources for translations into English, namely bibliographies of translations, national bibliographies and library catalogues.
