In this contribution the author examines the dichotomy of translatability: on the one hand translation is perceived as theoretically infeasible and practically feasible but on the other hand it is considered to be the exact opposite, i.e. theoretically feasible and practically infeasible. The author discusses several texts in order to address this issue.
