This research builds on past empirical research in the area of aptitude testing and aims at verifying the aptitude testing system curently in use at the École de Traduction et Interprétation of Geneva University. First a definition of shadowing is presented and then a number of previous experiments dealing with shadowing are examined. In conclusion the results are discussed and evaluated.
