Abstract

The present article focuses on the translation theory of Jiri Levy, an adept of Prague Structuralism. Translation is divided in three phases: 1. understanding the text; 2. interpreting the text; 3. translating the text. The author explains these phases and takes into account the problems translators face dealing with each phase.
