Game-theoretical semantics

Table of contents

The aim of this short text cannot be to give an extensive introduction to game-theoretical semantics (for which we refer to Davis 1970 and Binmore 1980). We will limit ourselves to providing a first acquaintance with the version of the theory to be found in the work of Jaakko Hintikka, and to considering the treatment of definite descriptions in this framework as a paradigm case for the theory’s approach to natural language expressions.
