Experimentation

This contribution on the experimental methodology in language research cannot possibly review all relevant experimental techniques. I have restricted the discussion to the following two topics. First I will describe the most essential characteristics of experimental linguistic research in contrast to other approaches to language. Then I will try to outline the logic characterizing many forms of experimentation, using the area of psycholinguistics for purposes of illustration.
