Logical analysis

In the ‘Postscript’ to The Structure of scientific Revolutions the American philosopher of science Thomas Kuhn talks about a certain ambiguity in the meaning of the concept of a scientific paradigm. On the one hand, the term denotes a set of techniques and values which the members of a given scientific community have in common. On the other hand, it may also denote a specific solution in a scientific discipline which serves as an example for the solution of other problems in the same scientific discipline. This ambiguity certainly holds for logic, which is concerned with the study of the validity and invalidity of inferences, as well as for the logical analysis of natural language, which is nowadays a prominent discipline in linguistics and philosophy.
