Abstract

(Comment by Hampshire (1996)) Lynne Cameron's (1996) examination of the development and use of metaphor by children underscores the difficulties involved in using metaphors effectively when teaching children with language difficulties; adaptive features are suggested for use in special education settings. The use of drama and story-telling (Millward, Peter, 1996 ) is additionally indicated to be of significant value in teaching speech- and language-impaired children relational strategies in real-life contexts.
