Abstract
In this book, the author develops an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of the complexity of translating. Attention is dedicated to the cognitive foundations of human communication, culture and translation. First, she discusses the viewpoint of mental processes as rule-based symbol-manipulation and of communication as signal transfer. Next, she looks into practice-oriented translation theories and the presentation of translation as the cultural event of a concept of translation as active construction and cooperation.
