As a seven-character Yuefu poem, Jin Lü Yi has its aesthetic features in both form and content, thereby being endowed with distinct literariness. However, due to certain reasons, the literariness of this poem is hidden consciously or unconsciously in its English-translated versions, thus affecting the real and faithful reproduction of its poetic value and literary charm. Based on the perspective of translation aesthetics, the paper aims to discuss the various English versions of Jin Lü Yi from the four aspects of external form, musical rhythm, rhetorical device, and thematic tension, which ends up finding that all the English versions still need to be improved in conveying the literariness of the poem. In the light of this, the article tries to offer a new English version of Jin Lü Yi and point out the conveyance of literariness, which is essential to the translation of Yuefu poems or even classical Chinese poems as a whole.
