Abstract
The Task of the Translator by Walter Benjamin is widely regarded as a pioneer of deconstruction in translation studies. This paper holds that Benjamin’s theoretical construction with "pure language" as the core does not deny or break away from the European ideological tradition but is an inheritance of the European ideological tradition, which is fundamentally different from deconstruction. Benjamin’s view of translation is an extension of his theory of linguistic philosophy, and his translation thought is quite different from traditional translation studies. It not only rejects the principle of "faithfulness", but also abandons the reader.
