À plus grande échelle, on pourrait l’illustrer en regardant l’étroite relation qui lie la traductologie (Translation Studies) et les disciplines connexes comme la littérature comparée et les différents aspects des études comparatives, qu’elles soient linguistiques, pragmatiques ou stylistiques. (Cf. par exemple, les problèmes de distinction entre traductologie, littérature comparée et linguistique contrastive, soulevés respectivement par les travaux de Bassnett 1993 et de Malmkjaer 1999; voir aussi Literary Studies and Translation Studies)
