Навряд чи на сьогодні можна вважати, що розвиток як явище чи його вивчення як сфера дослідження є складовою перекладознавства або його предметом. Не знайдеться монографій чи навіть журнальних статей, де перекладознавці розглядали б проблему розвитку. З іншого боку, і дослідники останнього лише зрідка перетинають межу сфери перекладу, та й тоді не обов’язково вкладають в нього традиційний зміст (див. Lewis & Mosse 2006). Причиною доцільності розгляду цього поняття, на мою думку, є те, що завдяки останнім поворотам у перекладознавстві (the turns of Translation Studies), воно мимоволі втягується в проблематику розвитку. Спочатку я коротко огляну зміст поняття « розвиток » та науки, що його вивчає. Потім покажу можливі напрями осмислення зв’язку між розвитком і перекладом. І нарешті окреслю перспективи цієї міждисциплінарної (interdisciplinary) сфери, аргументуючи неминучість залучення перекладознавства до дослідження проблематики розвитку.
