Усний переклад у царині охорони здоров’я, також усний медичний переклад – це особливий різновид усного перекладу для потреб громади/ усного перекладу у соціальній сфері (Community interpreting*), що реалізується в ситуації, де споживачі й надавачі медичних послуг відчувають потребу в комунікації, проте не володіють єдиною мовою для реалізації цієї потреби. Така ситуація є типовою для мультикультуралізму, за якого в суспільстві стабільно розвивається медичний туризм, зростає мобільність у лавах медпрацівників та пацієнтів, а також міграція (Angelelli 2019).
