Receção é um termo que, desde a sua introdução nos Estudos Literários nos anos sessenta do século XX, desviou o enfoque do texto e do autor para o leitor. Em súmula, um texto não tem qualquer significado sem o contributo do leitor. Neste contexto é possível distinguir duas tradições principais para a conceptualização do fenómeno da receção: uma europeia e outra americana.
