Eeldame, et inimesed tajuvad millegi relevantsust intuitiivselt ja suudavad järjekindlalt eristada olulist teavet ebaolulisest või mõnel juhul olulisemat teavet vähem olulisest. Samas pole seda intuitsiooni väga lihtne esile kutsuda või põhjendusena kasutada. Asjaolu, et on olemas kindel, kuid hägusa ja muutuva tähendusega relevantsuse mõiste, on pigem takistuseks kui abiks.
