Uustõlge (kui toode) tähendab, et mingi tekst on tõlgitud samasse sihtkeelde teist või rohkemat korda. Seega on uuesti tõlkimine (kui protsess) oma olemuselt nähtus, mis toimub teatud aja pärast, kuid praktikas esineb ka samaaegseid või peaaegu samaaegseid tõlkeid, mistõttu on mõnikord raske või isegi võimatu üht tõlget esimeseks ja teist tõlget teiseks tõlkeks liigitada. Mõned uurijad räägivad uustõlkega seoses ka kaudsetest või releetõlgetest, kuid see on tõenäoliselt pigem eksitav kui kasulik ning käesolevas artiklis viidatakse uustõlke terminiga korduvatele tõlgetele ühte keelde.
