Uudelleenkäännös tarkoittaa tietystä yksittäisestä lähdetekstistä samalle kohdekielelle tehtyä toista tai myöhäisempää käännöstä. Prototyyppinen uudelleenkääntäminen on ilmiö, joka tapahtuu ajan kuluessa, mutta käytännössä on olemassa myös samanaikaisesti tai lähes samanaikaisesti tehtyjä käännöksiä, minkä vuoksi voi toisinaan olla hankalaa tai mahdotonta määritellä, mikä käännöksistä on ensimmäinen ja mikä tehty sen jälkeen. Lisäksi jotkut tutkijat käsittelevät epäsuoraa kääntämistä tai välikielten kautta kääntämistä uudelleenkääntämisen viitekehyksessä, mutta tämä näkökulma olisi todennäköisesti enemmän harhaanjohtava kuin hyödyksi, minkä vuoksi tässä artikkelissa uudelleenkäännöksiksi kutsutaan vain samasta lähdeteoksesta samalle kielelle tehtyjä useampia käännöksiä.
