Terminologie de la traduction / Translation terminology / Terminología de la traducción / Terminologie der Übersetzung (henceforth TT) was published in 1999. Compiled by a large group of mainly French-Canadian specialists on translation and terminology, it was intended to be a practical tool for translation didactics, presenting and defining around 200 terms commonly used in the training of translators. As this reference book was originally based on an English to French glossary by Jean Delisle, it bears a French stamp. However, in their introduction, the editors of TT acknowledge that linguistic and cultural differences account for conceptual frames and terminologies that do not completely overlap in the area of Translation Studies. Consequently, they claim to have left space for adaptation to national conventions and nomenclatures. A bibliography including national reference books on translation theory and practice was accordingly added for each of the language sections.
