It is refreshing to see a book foregrounding works of popular culture—and the particularly marginal genre of erotica at that. Not all erotica is necessarily lowbrow, as some of the works discussed here illustrate, but the corpus studied by Nitsa Ben-Ari certainly extends Translation Studies in a hitherto largely unexplored direction. This broadening of the object of study beyond the usual focus on more canonical works is a welcome development.
