This is a collection of 17 articles which originally appeared between 1978 and 2003, all of them written in English. The editor, Gillian Lathey, who has published on German and English literature, is Reader in Children’s Literature at Roehampton University and Acting Director of the National Centre for Research in Children’s Literature. Despite reservations one might have about individual essays, and apart from certain regrets concerning absent voices or topics, the book is a very useful reference work in a field of recent research in both Comparative Children’s Literature and Translation Studies.
