Les ouvrages sur la traduction audiovisuelle (TAV) se sont multipliés ces dernières années. Ils rendent ainsi le domaine plus visible sans gagner nécessairement en profondeur, la plupart de ces publications restant à la surface des choses et surtout accumulant des informations qui deviennent vite obsolètes—tant les types de traduction se diversifient et les conditions de travail du traducteur évoluent vite, et aussi parce que le paysage audiovisuel lui-même se métamorphose rapidement sous la pression des technologies et malgré les hésitations juridiques, légales.
