There are many possible answers to this question. The answers that the students come up with should form the basis of a discussion. The discussion should cover the most important aspects: the role of the spoken language, the form of spoken language input and the timing of its introduction. The same issues should be discussed for the sign language. Characteristics of the pupil population should also be addressed: inclusion of children with a CI, of hearing children as in co-enrolment where hearing and deaf children are taught in the same class.
