La relation entre traduction et linguistique n’a pas toujours été des plus harmonieuses, notamment parce que les traductologues ont parfois accusé les linguistes de se méprendre sur la traduction comme « un simple procédé de transcodage » (‘as a mere transcoding process’ ; Snell-Hornby 1988 : 3 ; ma traduction) et d’être obsédés par la notion d’équivalence malgré sa nature instable, due à la variation des termes utilisés pour la désigner d’une langue à une autre.
