I am grateful to both José Lambert and Anthony Pym for their critical readings of my paper "The Making of Culture Repertoires and the Role of Transfer" (Even-Zohar 1977c). Such readings are quite rare among colleagues, and certainly have been rare in my case. However, the cryptic nature of the paper, and the fact it barely referred the reader to other papers of mine where some topics are more elaborated, seem to have led to a number of misunderstandings.
