    These are selected papers from a conference held in honour of Jirí Levý and Anton Popovic, and the title of the volume is well chosen. Unusually for a volume of conference proceedings, here there is no difficulty in finding the common themes that link the papers. In fact, the volume gives a good overall view of the state of translation studies at the end of the past millennium.
