The one thing common to the articles in this book is that they all deal with the translation of classical Chinese literature into foreign—mostly Western—languages. In his introduction the editor divides this book into three sections based primarily on subject matter. For the reviewer, however, the more natural division is ‘factual narrative’ vs. ‘intellectual exploration’, a division which bears no direct relationship to subject matter.
