    This publication contains the papers presented at the international conference “Translating Shakespeare for the twenty-first century”, held at the University of Oporto in December 2000. The topic of the conference was the contemporary [ p. 392 ]practise of Shakespeare translation, with particular attention to Portugal, where a group of scholars from different universities is currently working on editions-cum-translations of Shakespeare’s plays, ten of which have already been published.
